Cheap and easy repair for an Accord Mirror that has become loose and is flopping in the wind. The c-clip that holds the spring tension on the detents has come loose and will not stay in place due to a worn groove. Instead of using the c-clip again, threads are added using a die and a nut is installed and positioned so that it will duplicate the amount of spring pressure that would exist if the c-clip were re-installed. I came up with this solution while trying to re-install the c-clip unsuccessfully. Use this procedure at your own risk of damage or injury. In my opinion, this repair is better than the original design. It is also better than using JB Weld or similar to hold your mirror in place because your mirror needs to fold back if you hit something (like a pedestrian) with it. I also show you hot to remove a door panel. This is a 99 Accord, but should apply to other Accords in the same generation.
